As you might guess from E-40’s lurking in the background of the new video for "Pow," Vallejo rapper Cousin Fik is a signee of E-40's Sick-Wid-It Records. Fik's 2010 record No Gravity—featuring exceptional single "Kaboom"—was one of the year's most underrated, and his latest release, Hacksaw Ben Thuggin, doesn't deserve the same fate.
"Pow," isn't included on Hacksaw. It came out over a year ago on a free CD released by producer DJ Fresh. The beat is something else, from what sounds like an Art of Noise sample to the unexpected beat-switch-up about a minute and a half into the track, which shifts the tone suddenly from dry turf banger to '80s twilight synth-funk.
