French Montana, Juicy J and Project Pat, “Do It” MP3

December 20, 2011

Yesterday, Juicy J, Project Pat and French Montana released their Cocaine Mafia project. A few of the highlights are Katt Williams-sampling "You Need Haters," and "Money Weed Blow," which first appeared on last year's Coke Boys mixtape. But head and shoulders above the rest is "Do It," a track from longtime French Montana collaborator Harry Fraud. Fraud's star has risen simultaneously with Montana's, and it's easy to see why. His beats have a hard edge, balanced by wistful immediacy and a heavy emphasis on melody. Fraud has a variety of tricks up his sleeve, too—on "Do It," he uses the sonic trademarks of pulp 1980s cop cinema, rapping over a beat replete with Jan Hammer-style synthesizers.
