Video: Foxx, “Get On”

January 06, 2012

Foxx's latest video perfectly captures significant other-drama with a balanced blend of frustration, affection and humor. "Get On"'s stop-start production style gives the song a bemused vibe, as if parts of the beat were snipped out to enhance the comical effect. The track highlights the contrast between the music's jovial, slapstick melody and its rapper's exasperation. Foxx is a rapper on Trill Ent, the same label as Lil Boosie and Webbie. Last year, he dropped "Gold Mouth Dawg," which had the more typical Trill Ent. sound, but I've found myself drawn to his more timeless, universal material here. If you claim you can't identify with this song on some level, you must be fronting, and you can get the fuck on. Directed by Preston Dark.
