Future writes hits with monster choruses. In the already-wide universe of his consistently-positive output, the finest virtues are hard work and forward motion. People work through pain and then work harder, and everything pays off; the mood is turned up and never turned down. On "You Knew What it Took," a track from 2011's Streetz Callin, the prolific rapper illustrates this outlook viscerally, saying that after studio session after studio session and with his voice gone, he's still pushing: When my voice raspy (What I do?)/ I'm a try to spit my lung up (For all my fans). Astronaut Status is the latest chapter in Future's climb and the precursor to his major label debut, Pluto. It features verses from Young Jeezy, Ludacris and Gucci Mane and production by Zaytoven, Mike Will and Sonny Digital.
