According to a the New York Observer, Kanye West and his creative team are scouting locations in the Middle East where they will begin production on a film, set to shoot starting in March. The project's trajectory is similar to West's 30-minute music video for "Runaway". The Observer's source did not reveal any details pertaining to project's content, “out of respect for Kanye’s ambition," but a goal to "bridge the cultural divide and break misconceptions" was cited as a reason for filming in the region.

West's team has been exploring production possibilities with government officials and film studios in Abu Dhabi, UAE and Doha, Qatar. The crew plan to live in the region while filming, "as part of an effort to create an 'authentic' depiction of the culture."
