Black Mountain, “Mary Lou” MP3

At the end of last week, Black Mountain released "Mary Lou" an eight minute stoner rock epic that's probably about something, but we ended up just riding that eternally hypnotic bassline and thinking about how we saw Black Mountain in Montreal this one time and they were drinking red wine on stage. Not everyone in the band was doing it—some dudes were drinking beers, and yeah, it's not a huge thing for a band to drink on stage, but the wine thing. How fitting is that? Since that time, there are now a lot less bands that sound like Black Mountain, which means a lot less chances for us to zone out and feel like the entire world is closing in around us (um, in a good way?). "Mary Lou" marks both the return of the band, as well as something else more interesting: It's part of an all Black Mountain soundtrack to Year Zero, a post-apocalyptic movie that will very likely feature a lot of gorgeous shots of the desert.
