Video: Kate Wax, “Dust Collision”

February 20, 2012

Here's a video for Kate Wax’s excellent "Dust Collision," which owes quite a bit to The Knife’s more accessible moments. That shouldn't be seen as a negative thing though! There's plenty of unexplored territory in the world of icy keys paired with vocals that sound like a gaggle of aliens singing through helium-filled balloons. The thing with songs like this, is that in all that dark coldness, the transcendent moments come when that emotionless veneer crumbles just a little bit. There are moments when Wax ditches the vocals, and while it's not as immediately compelling as that (literally) otherworldly voice, it's all in the contrast.
