Arielle de Pinto’s Shiny Gold Platforms

April 04, 2012

Arielle de Pinto is famous for chainmail-like jewelry, her speciality being strands and strands of pewter and gold that look like spiderwebs and fall on the chest like delicate armor. But just this spring, she dipped her toes into the shoe game with a few pairs of neon crocheted platforms, and now we're getting a look at her second season of footwear for this upcoming autumn. A collaboration with Simona Vanth, it looks like she's taken some cues from the bronze baby shoes that new mothers make as keepsakes from their toddlers' baby booties and transferred her musty metals into high heels. Here's hoping they're not too heavy because lead feet are never chic, but the high, high platforms on these shoes are begging to be worn at a rave, so we imagine de Pinto is smart enough to factor in a girl's need to kick up her heels every now and then.
