Interview: Zola Jesus at the FADER FORT Presented by Converse

Zola Jesus is one of those acts that's hard to imagine fitting comfortably into a festival context, her sound is big and dark—better suited to cavernous warehouse than open air, outdoorsy sunglasses vibes. That said, she wears a mean pair of black, many-sided sunglasses that look like something a vampire might don to occlude any ounce of daylight, and which she sweetly peeled off her face for our pre-show interview. She said she'd covered all her bases, talking to the lighting guys, the sound guys, and most importantly putting her stamp of approval on The FADER Fort Presented by Converse bass system, which is essential for the big sound she most capably delivered.
