Marni Makes Philanthropic Furniture

April 12, 2012

Italian fashion label Marni has made what might be the unlikeliest entry into the world of interior design. For the international furniture fair, Salone del Mobile in Milan, Marni has debuted a collection of furniture manufactured by Colombian prison inmates as a part of their social rehabilitation program. The 100-piece collection made of metal and boldly colored plastic weaving sticks close to the brand's aesthetic of intricate form and dense color blocking and will be sold exclusively at Marni's Milan store, with proceeds going directly to the I.C.A.M. Institute, a jail for inmate mothers with children in Milan. (via Fashionologie)
