Every time we hear about a new Walkmen album, we get excited to really live with it for awhile. It's not that their songs aren't immediately appealing, it's just that this band has perfected a very specific sound. It sits somewhere between being old enough to know better, but being drunk enough to not even care. Over the course of their career, they've gone from drunken, big-city bluster, to become a somewhat more subdued and wiser group. The sentiment is still the same, it's just that the method is more controlled. On "Heaven" they return to their youthful roots a bit, only there's less anger lurking, just regret and understanding.
