Stream: Meg Baird, “No Song to Sing” (Michael Chapman Cover)

Oh Michael, Look What You've Done: Friends Play Michael Chapman is a new covers compilation organized by the 71-year-old legend of British folk music's wife, Andru, and Josh Rosenthal, of the seminal acoustic label Tompkins Square, featuring former tour-mates and like-minded artists like the Black Twig Pickers, Lucinda Williams and Thurston Moore, who conducted the authoritative Chapman interview for Fretboard Journal in 2009. Philadelphia singer/songwriter and Espers member Meg Baird’s beautiful rendition of "No Song to Sing" trades the original’s standup bass for a ringing slide guitar, her voice gliding like a blue heron compared to Chapman's weary croon. Oh Michael comes out May 29th on Tompkins Square.
