Bay Area hip-hop has a strong tradition of adapting old styles in a way that doesn’t seem to weigh them down, and this elegantly catchy, uptempo slap from Cousin Fik is no exception, capturing the freewheeling, irreverent best of his 2010 tape No Gravity and its underrated singles “Kaboom” and “Bay Area 51.”
