Daily Inspiration: SCC f. Lil Boosie, “Livin How I’m Spittin”

Now that he's received a not-guilty verdict in his murder trial, Lil Boosie’s impending release from prison, which some have suggested could take as little as 12 to 18 months, should make fans eager for lots of new music. But while they're waiting, here's one of Boosie's lesser-known and most inspired performances from Both Sides of the Track, a split CD he shared with a white rap duo called South Coast Coalition. "Livin What I'm Spittin," an album highlight alongside Boosie staple "Murder Man Dance," was one of my earliest glimpses of how ferociously Boosie could rap, and serves as a kind of statement of purpose, albeit one Louisiana prosecutors may have tried to use against him: I make raw music and you feel it every time/ Because I'm livin' what I'm spittin' up in every damn rhyme.
