Cat Power, "Ruin" MP3

"Ruin," which you can stream above and download below, via Matador, comes from Sun, Cat Power's first all-original album in six years. Chan Marshall produced the record herself, partly in a self-built Malibu studio, and mixed it this spring in Paris with Philippe Zdar, the wizard who's also marked albums by Phoenix, The Rapture, Beastie Boys, Cassius and Kindness with his singular touch. Read more about Zdar in Amber Bravo's profile from FADER #80, and revisit Cat Power's last album of original material, The Greatest, in Alex Wagner's FADER #34 cover feature. Sun is out September 4th, see its tracklist below the download.
