Interview: Le1f, MikeQ and Matthew Dear at MoMA PS1 Warm Up

July 25, 2012

Last Saturday we had the pleasure of catching Le1f, MikeQ and Matthew Dear play at MoMA PS1's Warm Up for a large, dance-happy crowd that included an on-vacation Kitty Pryde. While Dear has played Warm Up previously, Le1f and MikeQ were excited to take the stage there for the first time. We caught up with all three before their sets. Le1f explained his dance background, the importance of a pre-show stretch and what he's been listening to (Katie Got Bandz and Sasha Gohard). MikeQ talked about jump-starting his own label and taking a quick break from Jersey's ball scene to play raves overseas. Matthew Dear just moved to a refurbished barn in upstate New York where he's building out his own studio and awaiting the release of his new album, Beams, out August 27th. They all delivered stellar performances, the only thing wrong with the day is that it ended. Check it out above, and see the lineup for the rest of this summer's Warm Ups here.
