NYC’s SSAP Imports West Coast Style

For the latest SSAP S/S 2013 collection, Mel Sangsomsap brings some West Coast sensibility to her NYC menswear line, but not in a rainbows and sunshine kind of way. Entitled Sureños, a slang term for street gangs, the collection's lookbook gives subtle nods to Southern Californian style with bandana prints and shirts buttoned all the way to the top, but Sangsomsap doesn't overwhelm with patterns on patterns, instead preferring to line the inside of a lace-up hoodie with camo so that it only peaks out at opportune times. The drawstring pants are the clincher for us, though, with a slim cut that still lands safely within the streetwear zone.
