Releasing ForteBowie’s “Check” on a Monday might seem like the wrong end of the week to drop a frenetic, hooky track about payday. Over taut snare rolls that sound like twitchy finger taps on the edge of an office desk, an obsessive refrain asks, Where my check? But those same repetitive anxieties of the weeklong grind sound great here, and that’s what makes “Check” so replay-ready. Bowie’s full length, Passion and Confusion is due out this September.
