Stream: Maria Minerva f. Chase Royal, “Fire”

August 30, 2012

Next Tuesday, September 4th, Estonian-born brainiac Maria Minerva will release Will Happiness Find Me?, her full-length follow-up to last year's Cabaret Cixous. On the heels of the very club-ready lead single "The Sound," Minerva slides into thickly atmospheric, '90s trip-hop territory with "Fire." Aside from a cameo from rapper Chase Royal, whose verse strobes psychedelically against Minerva's legato refrains, this stuff is downtempo and loungy enough to sound straight out of Cibo Matto's 1996 classic Viva La Woman!, only without the food fixation. Pick up the album from Not Not Fun, and read more about Minerva in our Gen F profile.
