Late last year, after the release of his Replica album, Daniel Lopatin aka Oneohtrix Point Never, performed at MoMA, accompanied by visual artist Nate Boyce. The music from the piece, "Reliquary House," featured stuttered speaking and gurgling drone. It was simultaneously otherworldly and entirely synthetic, a confusing and glorious mix. That music is reworked here into five linked pieces, "Music For Reliquary House." The last two minutes are something special. The other side of the album, by Rene Hell, also consists of five pieces, though they are more sublime, strings occasionally blitzed by spasms of electronics. They make a good pair. Listen to the album below and pick it up now.
