Offering, the album from which "My People" comes, was recorded solo by Bird By Snow’s Fletcher Tucker, and that makes a lot of sense. The track has this weird loneliness embedded in it. It doesn't appear so much in the lyrics or in the music itself, as much as in the way it was recorded. It sounds like Tucker did everything in a massive room, letting all the instruments bounce and echo off the walls. When the keys finally come in, they have some real heft, almost like you could chew them.
