Every week, a different FADER editor compiles a playlist to highlight a new release and give you a guide to that artist’s web of influences and peers. These Staff Selects live in our Spotify app, alongside GEN Fs from our archives and playlists for each issue. This week, it's Amber Bravo on Brian Eno.

Yesterday, Warp Records announced that they'll be releasing Brian Eno's first solo album since 2005's Another Day On Earth. Titled LUX, the 76-minute composition in twelve parts will expand on his earlier "Music For Thinking" project, which includes Discreet Music (1975) and Neroli (1993). Arguably, though, all of Eno's music is for thinking. An engaged and prolific collaborator, you can see his thumbprint on everything he touches, whether it's as a pop producer (Devo, Bowie, Talking Heads), an ambient innovator or simply one of the guys in the band (Roxy Music). Like a big ship, his sound is a singular vessel that bobs and waves and sails across a big sea of sound, always above great depths. Here's a selection of Eno's work both as a solo artist, collaborator and producer, as well as a few tracks from some of his influences and contemporaries.
