Every week, a different FADER editor compiles a playlist to highlight a new release and give you a guide to that artist’s web of influences and peers. These Staff Selects live in our Spotify app, alongside GEN Fs from our archives and playlists for each issue. This week, the FADER staff chimes in with their own personal hurricane jams.
Hurricane Sandy has crippled New York City. The subways aren’t running, power is out and entire neighborhoods have flooded. The FADER, like most local businesses, is closed today, as it was yesterday, during the brunt of the storm. Fortunately, we’re all safe and sound (and wish the same for you and your loved ones). We basically turned into Weather Channel zombies, but when cable went out we were forced to turn to music. Here’s a collective playlist from the FADER staff of what we’ve been using to soundtrack high winds and intermittent rain while working from the couch.

Sorry, we’re not available where you are. Leave your email to stay tuned for good news. So living in Thailand I’m screwed
Great job with this – only 64 people were killed in Sandy. You should do playlists for the Colorado shootings and the bombing of the Sikh temple in Wisonsin. Get some groovy rememberance tunes, you know?
Way to go with the playlist – only 64 people died. You should make some groovy rememberance tunes for the Colorado and Wisconsin shootings when u have some time.
