Help NYC Boutiques Recoup After Sandy

November 01, 2012

As the newspapers continue to cite the billions of dollars of revenue lost due to Hurricane Sandy, it's hard not to get that sinking feeling that there's nothing you can do to help besides donating money to the Red Cross (which you should do). There are other ways to help out, though. Many of our favorite small boutiques in the city (i.e. not American Apparel) have suffered major losses and have had to shutter their shops due to the storm, and in an effort to recoup some of the damages, many are offering special discounts on their web shops. Here's our roundup of the best, local NYC retailers that you should shop at for some retail therapy that's mutually beneficial.

*No. 6 Store is offering 15% off all clogs and items listed on their blog until November 3rd.

*Creatures of Comfort is offering a 10% discount on online orders to counterbalance the losses they face due to their Nolita shop being closed. Use purchase code DamnSandy at checkout.

*Steven Alan, whose Tribeca headquarters and Flagship store are located in the no-power zone below 39th street, is offering free shipping with the code SANDYFREESHIP.

*Shen, the all-natural Carrol Gardens beauty and wellness apothecary, is taking 20% off orders with the code SANDY.

*Seize Sur Vingt’s Greene St. boutique is still closed, so they're running a 30% discount with the code SANDY at checkout.

*Downtown shopping destination Opening Ceremony remains closed after Hurricane Sandy; they're weathering the storm by accepting online orders.
