Stream: Gold and Soil, "Of Our Earth"

Gold and Soil is the Los Angeles duo of singer/harpist Ana Caravelle and Ryan York, a composer and multi-instrumentalist who's got as much a handle on cello and jazz bass as he does on synthesizers and drum machines. Their self-titled debut, which comes out November 13th on Non Projects, was reportedly recorded inside a yurt in the Topanga Canyon, a forested area in the Santa Monica mountains, just a few miles out of the city proper. "Of Our Earth," the second single, is a dramatic amalgam of crunchy drones, skittering drum beats, and echoing vocals that seem to command from on high.
