Video: Tame Impala’s Modular Studio Sessions

November 14, 2012

You can't really tell, but this video was shot in the basement of The Norfolk, a hotel/pub that was home to some of Tame Impala’s earliest shows and is now a regular rehearsal space for the band. It's a small, unfussy basement, conducive to packed, wildly stoked crowds. In this video, Tame Impala perform "Apocalypse Dreams," "Feels Like We Only Go Backwards" and "Elephant" to what is probably an empty room. The versions of the songs here are mostly faithful to the album, though Kevin Parker's vocals feel looser, more malleable and quivery. Even if you've heard this stuff before (and if you're reading this you probably have), it's worth checking out these versions as well. Tame Impala's Lonerism is out right now on Modular.
