Stream: Zs, “Bump (Zebrablood Remix)”

This year, longrunning Brooklyn avant-improv unit Zs regrouped as the trio of founding member and sax player Sam Hillmer, guitarist Patrick Higgins, and former Liturgy drummer Greg Fox; they also released Score, a Northern Spy-released box set full of rarities and previously unreleased material from the years 2002 to 2007, when the group was a sextet. The new incarnation of Zs just got back from a North American tour, and are throwing a homecoming party this Saturday at Downtown Manhattan’s 92YTribeca, with Chief Boima of Dutty Artz on the decks. On January 11th-13th, Zs will be traveling to Japan to set up a live remix installation at Tokyo’s Vacant Gallery—kicking off a string of Zs tourdates in that country, and centered around the SCORE release. Basically, imagine a room in which electronic musicians from all over the world will be sitting down at a long table and remixing material from the compilation in real time, as a member of the actual band blasts a live mix-down of all the blips and bloops. Not so coincidentally, Dutty Artz will be collaborating with the group on a 2013 mixtape full of remixes harvested from the experience, but to tide us over, here’s another dark and hypnotic Zs rework courtesy of Excepter member Nathan Corbin, aka Zebrablood.
