Brooklyn Bound: Interview with Le1f

December 12, 2012

New York rapper Le1f, whose stage name (pronounced like "leaf") is an abbreviated version of his actual first name Khalif, admitted to us that his screen name-style moniker is nearly impossible for most people to pronounce. Citing "Lil One F" as the most ridiculous of it's mispronunciations, he's heard any and every vowel possible inserted into the various deliveries. And so for his Brooklyn Bound interview, he chose 285 Kent, the DIY performance space named for it's Wiliamsburg address, the place where he's performed the most and one where everybody (present) knew his name. Perched comfortably atop the 285 Kent stage, Converse boots dangling, he spoke about why he loves the venue so much, how his performances have evolved and also, where he got his shirt. Check it out above and stay tuned for an exclusive download from his Converse Rubber Tracks performance.
