Trinidad James Signs to Def Jam

December 13, 2012

According to a press release quoting label President Joie Manda, following an "intense bidding war," 25-year-old Atlanta rapper Trinidad James has signed with Def Jam Records. "We are thrilled to have him at the label, and look forward to growing his already massive buzz," Manda said. The deal includes a joint venture with James' Gold Gang Records. Yesterday, rumors of the signing began circulating on Twitter, where fans hypothesized the deal earned James two million. (Def Jam has not confirmed the size of the deal.)

Below, watch James' breakout "All Gold Everything" video, which premiered on FADER, and check out his Don’t Be S.A.F.E mixtape. Read Sam Hockley-Smith's report from his chaotic appearance in New York last week here.
