Stream: Ellen Allien, “LISm Medley”

January 07, 2013

A few years ago, beloved Berlin selector/producer and BPitchControl labelhead Ellen Allien composed a soundtrack for Drama per Musica, a dance piece by French choreographers Alexandre Roccoli and Sevérine Rième. The work premiered at the Pompidou Center in 2011, but recently, Allien decided to reimagine her end of it, keeping certain passages intact while expanding upon others. The result was a new album called LISm, and from the sounds of the teaser she just dropped, it's a dreamlike amalgam of gritty textures and economical beats, with some particularly arresting shocks of sax, piano and spoken vox. Hear the whole thing on March 12th, when it comes out via BPitchControl.
