Stream: Single Mothers, “Christian Girls”

Single Mothers’ "Christian Girls" holds a lot of truth, even as its two minutes of sloppy bar punk strains to break from a format that often doesn't allow for the kind of wry observational humor going on here. Buried under all that fuzz is a simple sentiment: You gotta write about what you know, which, when its being screamed with end-of-the-world desperation, comes off as the sort of life-affirming advice that can carry you through any shitty period you might be going through. "Christian Girls" feels vital, every phrase direct and hilarious and dark. It's not new or groundbreaking, but it's honest and it's worth coming back to over and over.
