Stream: Rachel Zeffira, "The Deserters"

Rachel Zeffira—the wintry-voiced Italian-Canadian singer with an opera background, a band with the singer from The Horrors and a killer orchestral My Bloody Valentine cover—releases her solo debut next month, via Paper Bag. Its titular single, "The Deserters," comes out February 12th, carried by spare, gazing-into-space vocals and dotted with great touches of horn. A master of many instruments, too, Zeffira says the track "began as an instrumental track for solo piano and oboe and gradually became a song." Below the stream are the swirling videos for "Here On In" and "The Deserters," filmed by Yuval Hen with a "special camera he constructed especially for the shoot.“
