There's a telling moment in the brief interview that accompanies New York producer Anthony Naples’ mix for NTS Radio. He's asked what he listens to that he wouldn't necessarily include in a DJ set, and his answer is Black Dice. There's something to that. Naples grew up surrounded by electronic music, and as he's refined his sound, he's kept one foot firmly in the traditional house world while branching out much further beyond, building tracks with blocky drums and organic hiss and rumble. That approach is mirrored in this mix, which, in addition to a couple endearing microphone problems, is also warm and human. After submerging yourself into this thing, it starts to feel weird that Naples wouldn't include Black Dice. They'd fit right in.
