Stream: Flower Orgy, “Our Song”

It might sound weird to say, but simplicity is underrated. On "Our Song," Flower Orgy’s Nate Luce lays down some plaintive guitar strumming and sings, I never see you anymore/ and when I do you give me shit/ maybe that's what living is when you're going for it/ I just want these guys to know that I'm living the dream/ I'm living in the city and I'm making out clean. When he segues into a whole thing about riding a bike near the water and smoking weed, it doesn't feel like anything other than a simple statement of fact—a willingness to be happy and enjoy what you're doing in the face of just about everything else. You could call this a summer anthem, but that implies that there's some deeper mission statement here beyond just extremely appealing easy living. "Our Song" makes a great case for not wanting anything else. Flower Orgy's new 7-inch is out May 14th on Fire Talk.
