Video: Saturday, Monday f. Julia Spada, "The Ocean"

"The Ocean" comes from the new EP of the same name by Ludvig Parment, the Swedish producer known as Saturday, Monday, and features Stockholm's Julia Spada. Directed by Positive Negative and filmed on Öland Island in the Baltic Sea, it reminds me of another Scandinavian, high-emotion, conceptual dance video: Phantom's recent "Kisses". Both songs cleverly integrate classical sounds and deep electronics—my favorite part here is at 2:22, just strings and anxiously nudging bass before the ultimate breakup: We reach the end here, crushed like the waves/ …And though the ocean looks infinite from the far side, it breaks here, it dies/ Like you and I. The Ocean EP is out now on vinyl via Sweden's Despotz Records.
