Marnie Stern’s 2010 album Marnie Stern was an explosive pairing of completely insane guitar virtuosity and heartbreaking/inspiring lyrics. It was as beautiful as it was difficult and remains seriously overlooked today. Her follow-up, Chronicles of Marnia, continues down that path of self-discovery while leaving plenty of breathing room. It’s still full of fireworks, but it feels more contemplative, too. Chronicles of Marnia is out March 19th on Kill Rock Stars.
