Download J. Faraday’s Beat Tape #1

March 25, 2013

From the sound of Houston-based producer J. Faraday's recent beat tape, out digitally on Seattle's Hush Hush Records, there's bound to be plenty of comparisons to Clams Casino. Like Clams, Faraday loves to weave slowed-down vocal samples and drum machine snaps into pieces that sound almost religious. Listening to this tape is the equivalent of hearing a car drive by a church, bass pounding muffled through stained glass windows, and the brief nature of each of these beats actually serves the project well. Faraday's got plenty of good ideas, he might as well explore them schizophrenically.
