Stream: TNGHT, “Acrylics”

April 08, 2013

Lunice and Hudson Mohawke, as TNGHT, excel at creating roided out instrumentals that sound simultaneously like the far flung future and also some sort of present-day warehouse party that inexplicably features a lot of stomping around. "Acrylics," a one-off single that seems to exist in anticipation of their upcoming string of US tour dates, takes so much of what they love (specifically that buzz that sounds like a swarm of bees just busted through the studio) and pairs it with jittery synths and staccato drums. There's a formula, sure, but it's a good one.
