Stream: Salvia Plath, “House of Leaves”

Formerly known as Run DMT, notoriously madcap Baltimore singer-songwriter Michael Collins is back with a long-in-the-making follow-up to his excellently burnished and poignantly melodic Dreams album. This time around, he's calling himself Salvia Plath, and though The Bardo Story is his first foray into more aboveground territory (with its proper studio treatment and co-signage from Domino imprint Weird World), you can tell from the "listener testimonial" in the oopening shot of this video that he's still got his sense of humor intact. "House of Leaves" baroque chromatics and "California Dreaming"-esque vocal harmonies show that he's spent the last few years really mastering the art of the catchy psych anthem. The Bardo Story is out July 8th, and available for pre-order now.
