Stream: Octo Octa, "Please Don't Leave"

With "Please Don't Leave," Brooklyn producer Octo Octa departs from a single, variously pitched vocal refrain (I don't want to let you go) and offsets its mechanized humanity with a dreamy palette of reverby synths and subtly crunchy drum patterns. Ironically, it's the purely machine-made elements that make for the warmest moments of this song, which, like the best dance music (and also, coincidentally, the cover art above), is all the richer for the conflicting emotions it evokes. Look for Octo Octa's upcoming 100% Silk LP, Between Two Selves, on May 28th.
