Stream: Ryan Power, “New Attitude”

June 10, 2013

Listen closely to this slinky slow jam from Ryan Power's new album, and you'll hear the sound of human panting being used as a percussive element. It's almost too faint to notice the first time around, but it's there, and pretty indicative of the sort of obsessive attention to detail a guy like Ryan Power would put into a song about sex. There's a sort of comedy to it, too—the woozy synth line and slowed down funk bassline on this one go down like a smooth shot of Alize, but so do the really frank mentions of testosterone and hot flesh. Like the best comedy though, it feels like the Vermont musician is being serious. Identity Picks is out on July 25 via NNA Tapes. Tourdates below.
