    A.T.G. makes swimwear
    to rock at the
    pool and the party

For the girl whose lazy beach day bleeds without break into afternoon errands and late night parties, Nikki Penny, creative director of A.T.G. Women, has designed a line of swimwear that’s meant to double as an all-purpose base layer. Penny was born in Bellingen, a small town on Australia’s southeast coast where social life revolves around the waterfront. “Australian girls are quite active, so they love that sport luxe vibe,” she says over email from her current home outside Seminyak, a beach community in Bali. Made with indestructible neoprene in fluorescent shades of strawberry daiquiri and pool water, A.T.G.'s suits keep cleavage in place, shine through sheer dresses and hold their own as tops when paired with shorts. Though reminiscent of the neon surfwear Body Glove produced in the ’90s, they put a twist on traditional shapes: wide halter yokes seem like necklaces when worn under scooping shirts, and black contrast stitching gives bandeau cups the look of winking cartoon eyes. With so much attention to fashion over function, it’s probably wise to keep jet skis out of the equation. “I wouldn’t recommend wearing N.L.P. while participating in water sports,” Penny warns. Anything else, though, is fair game.
