Trend Report: Painterly Prints at Raf Simons and Walter Van Beirendonck

June 26, 2013

Raf Simons is now the toast of the fashion world as the Creative Director at Christian Dior and with his own namesake Raf Simons line, but once, a long time ago, he was just an intern in menswear legend Walter Van Beirendonck’s design studio, where his love for fashion took hold and where he honed his skill. So it's no surprise that every now and then, the old master-and-student duo would find some inspiration overlap: both showed collections today in Paris that featured a nice little group of silk items with super cool surrealist prints done up in crazy colors. Call it the collective fashion unconscious, but when two of our favorite designers read each other's minds, it's a certified cosign that will definitely end up in our closets.
