Stream The Shakin’ Babies’ Stoked Casual LP

June 27, 2013

My mind projects a giant Cheshire grin over everything The Shakin' Babies do, from their unusually worded but very evocative Stoked Casual debut album title to the band's roster, which is listed on Bandcamp with vaguely greaser-ish nicknames like Elliot "Smells" Snyder and "Electric" Nikki Eskola. The Minneapolis five-piece with a ’60s garage rock swing is led by frontwoman Jess Oleson, who MJMJ label owner Andrew Todryk describes as "a super babe in the Queen Latifah beats people up for mouthing off kind of way." It's basically all lovable. The album is out now for $4.20 (lol), with limited cassettes and CDs for $6.66 (lol), and streaming below in its awesome, beer-spilled-down-your-shirt-like-a-wet-bib entirety. This weekend, The Shakin' Babies play FMLY Fest Brooklyn—download a free mix showcasing the performing artists here, including Little Spoon, Chrome Sparks and Megafortress.
