Julien David’s Mad, Mad Menswear World

July 09, 2013

Maybe it was, as Matthew Schneier wrote in his Style.com review, that “culture clash is close to the heart of his enterprise by default,” or that Bob Marley and Jamaica were at the center of his inspiration, but there was something about Julien David’s spring 2014 menswear show that made it one of our very favorite shows of the season. Maybe it was just how his clothes were totally subtly wearable and weirdly adventurous all at once—and that we’d rock almost every piece, including that water-y print jumpsuit that’s just about the coolest thing we can imagine having in our closet. Or maybe it’s just that, like all the best things in life, it’s hard to put our finger on exactly why we love this odd, inexplicable mix of oversized Madness T-shirts, Canadian tuxedos and extra-long bomber jackets, but we just do.
