Longrunning Brooklyn psych unit NYMPH have always struck me with the pure, emotive chaos of their live show, showcasing the free-associative shouts and shamanic bell-ringing of frontwoman Eri Shoji against a more or less free-rock backdrop that includes a whole lot of fiery licks from lead guitarist Matty McDermott. Recently, they went on tour with the Athens, GA band Dark Meat, and somewhere along the road, ended up swallowing the latter band into their ranks. Now expanded into an 8-piece, NYMPH released its second album on June 25th via Brooklyn's Northern Spy. Stream "New Millennium Prayer," the album's colossal freak-out of a title track, below.
