This one's a ponderous slab of guitar-driven doom from Richmond, Virginia outfit Windhand. Something about the chorusy processing on singer Dorthia Cottrell's voice almost feels reminiscent of '90s alternative rock, but any inkling of radio-readiness should be instantly undercut but the massive, guitar-and-drum-blast-tornado these guys kick up about six minutes in to the track's formidable, nine-and-a-half-minute run time. Soma is out September 17th via Relapse.
