Kanye West will perform “Black Skinhead” at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards, taking place August 25th at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center. It will be his seventh VMAs performance. Absent at the ceremony last year, he’s nevertheless been a big part of the show in recent memory—performing “Otis” with Jay Z in 2011 and “Runaway” in 2010. (He wasn’t officially on the bill in 2009, but his unscripted Taylor Swift outburst was that night’s takeaway news.) Lady Gaga will debut a new single, “Applause,” during the broadcast; MTV has yet to announce other performers, though top nominee Miley Cyrus, who’s got an hour-long MTV documentary in the works, seems like a shoe-in.
