On this year's False Idols LP, trip-hop bigwig Tricky offered an ice-cold take on "My Funny Valentine" that juxtaposed fragments of the old jazz standard with a streetwise monologue on the struggles of a single mother character he observes walking in the rain. The "My Funny Valentine" aspect is pretty much lost entirely upon this Andy Stott remix of the track, though with its humming bass frequencies, stuttering beats and pockets of empty space, it's sorta like he's taking all that ominousness and amplifying it.
