Beyoncé has penned an essay on gender equality, titled "Gender Equality Is a Myth!", which is included in the latest issue of journalist Maria Shriver's Shriver Report. In the piece, Beyoncé addresses the pay inequity in the American workforce, noting that the average working woman only earns 77 percent of that of the average working man.

"We need to stop buying into the myth about gender equality," she writes. "It isn't a reality yet ... But unless women and men both say this is unacceptable, things will not change. Men have to demand that their wives, daughters, mothers and sisters earn more—commensurate with their qualifications and not their gender. Equality will be achieved when men and women are granted equal pay and equal respect."

This installment of the Shriver Report also contains essays by LeBron James, Hillary Clinton and more.
